Roma – A Photo Essay

First time I visited Rome was during my January 2015 birthday. Since then I have visited a couple more times. Rome is one of those cities you keep coming back to. I absolutely love the colors of this city, the people, the language, the FOOD! Everything about Rome is absolutely beautiful. This photographic blog post is from my most recent trip last month.  Food For Breakfast I would usually have some sort of a delicious pastry & coffee For Lunch, it was always pasta. My favorite restaurant is Trattoria da Enzo in Trastevere. I highly suggest you arrive at 12:30pm when lunch starts or earlier, because otherwise you will be waiting in line. The food is very fresh here & prices are excellent!  In Afternoon, I would usually have gelato! And I have concluded that Venchi is my favorite! Piazza Venezia, Roman Forum & the Colosseum

I loved this area so much because everything is in one place so you can really see a lot very quickly. We used a bus to get to Piazza Venezia and started from there, walked along the Roman Forum and finally walked over to the Colosseum. You can see all these sights during one afternoon, but I suggest you spend an entire day exploring this area. Start your day with a breakfast, and then head over here with the metro or a bus and enjoy some sightseeing, take some photos, have lunch nearby and explore some more. We did not have time to explore the surrounding areas here because of our tight schedule.

I wasn’t sure what I would order as a birthday dessert in Rome, but I definitely gave it some thought prior to my arrival in Rome. When the evening of 14th of January arrived, after a full day of sightseeing, mum and I returned to our fave local restaurant spot and after dinner, ordered a Gluten Free Nutella pizza to share. This pizza was so simple yet so delicious! If you love pizza crust, and you love Nutella, and who doesn’t? – you will definitely enjoy this yummy dessert! Restaurant: Mama! Travel Journal: Spectacular Gluten Free Tiramisu in Rome

New Day, New Dessert After ordering a gluten free pizza for breakfast, I noticed 2 beautifully freshed prepared tiramisus in the dispaly window and I ordered a slice before my breakfast pizza arrived. It was so good! The tiramisu had a light and fluffy texture and it was absolutely delicious! I’ve had tiramisu in a few different countries, but there’s nothing like enjoying an Italian dessert in the country of its origin. If you get a chance, you have to try freshly made tiramisu in Italy, it’s the best! 🙂 Restaurant: Mama! Purchasing Stamps, Mailing out Postcards & Document Printing in Italy & Portugal

ITALY: STAMPS & POSTCARDS In Italy, my plan was to go to the post office, purchase some stamps and mail out some postcards. Prior to my departure for Rome, I jotted down a couple of post offices in my neighbourhood, so that I could just enter the address in my phone maps, and I would be taken to the post office. As I had only a few days in the city it had to be planned out a bit, but things didn’t quiet turn out so simple. Purchasing postcards is always the easy part. I found some beautiful ones on my street Via Della Scala. There was a sign in this little shop saying that they sell stamps there, so I went inside and asked for stamps, and they didn’t actually sell them there. Next up, I went to the post office, and both in Italy and Portugal when you arrive at the post office, you have to first pick up a customer number from this machine in the front, that puts you in queue. Second Day in Rome: Spanish Steps & Piazza di Spagna

After the Trevi Fountain we headed for the Spanish Steps which are located at the center of Piazza di Spagna. The beautiful church, Trinità dei Monti, rising above the famous steps was also under construction, but unlike the Trevi Fountain, this doesn’t make such a huge difference when visiting. This area is absolutely beautiful, and if you came to Rome for some serious retail therapy then this is the right place for you. You can reach the Spanish Steps with the metro by using the “orange line” which will have you arrive right inside the Piazza di Spagna. I also suggest climbing the steps to the very top, as the view from above is very rewarding. If you love high fashion and if you love Valentino, then this store that’s about to open is most definitely the one to visit. It’s absolutely huge! Currently the Trevi is going under a €2.2 million restoration which is funded by the Fendi fashion house and should be completed by Autumn 2015. I think a lot of people think of Paris first when they think of Valentine’s Day and where they would like to spend it with a loved one. I haven’t been to Paris yet, so I can’t possibly comment, but I will say that Rome would most definitely be my choice for romance. You also don’t have to have a significant other to experience a romantic city. If you love to travel, you will most likely fall in love with beautiful …
