Travel Journal: The Alps

The Alps from Seat 2F Journey: Milan – ✈– Lisbon I love window seats 🙂 The views you get while flying are seriously priceless. This was taken with my phone which doesn’t take good photos so the quality isn’t the best. When we took off from Milan Malpensa (MXP) it was just mountains and mountains covered with white. It was such a pretty sight. Incredible! 🙂

Travel Journal: Spectacular Gluten Free Tiramisu in Rome

New Day, New Dessert After ordering a gluten free pizza for breakfast, I noticed 2 beautifully freshed prepared tiramisus in the dispaly window and I ordered a slice before my breakfast pizza arrived. It was so good! The tiramisu had a light and fluffy texture and it was absolutely delicious! I’ve had tiramisu in a few different countries, but there’s nothing like enjoying an Italian dessert in the country of its origin. If you get a chance, you have to try freshly made tiramisu in Italy, it’s the best! 🙂 Restaurant: Mama! Travel Journal: CafĂ© Duplo

On some days when I ran out of coffee at the apt, I would order CafĂ© Duplo while I was out exploring. It costs about €1.20 and it’s basically made of 2 espresso shots. I have mine with some sugar to balance out the strong flavour of espresso. Because I’m usually on the go, I ask if the coffee place has a to go cup first, so that’s my advice for you before ordering. I found such a place on my second attempt during my daytrip in Braga. It was about 4pm and I hadn’t had any coffee yet, and I desperately needed a little pick me up. At the first coffee shop, the lady told me in Portuguese that they didn’t have to go paper cups, just regular coffee cups for dining in. Then I walked a little further and just around the corner there was a pretty fancy looking coffee shop, that looked quiet expensive. I went inside and a couple of nice friendly lady baristas helped me out with the coffee to go dilemma. Surprisingly …

100 Days of Sunshine turns 6 Months Old!

Wow, it’s been half a year already? Seems like time just flew. Exactly 6 months ago I set up this blog on WordPress and my first post was published on the 15th of September. It’s been a wonderful journey so far and this blog has brought me nothing but happiness, but now I’m starting to think about monetization. About 4 months in, sometime in January, a friend of mine came to me and asked me to set up a fun Weekend Birthday Itinerary for her and her husband somewhere in Europe, which I would actually be paid for. This was my first gig offer, and I remember how excited I was about it. I think that any person that finds themselves in a field they feel so passionate about would at first feel slightly awkward and surprised to be paid for something they madly love to do. When I first started researching Travel Blogging last year, I noticed thatsuccessful travel bloggers suggested attending Travel Blogging Events. This was in the very early stage, because I started looking at …

Why you should eat at R’domus when in Porto

View of R’domus from the street During my first full day in Porto, after some sightseeing and a river cruise, I came across R’domus restaurant and I’m super happy that I did. There was a big sign on the street advertising their very affordable meal of the day which is what got my attention in the first place. Henrique, Paulo and Daniella, the three siblings that work at this local restaurant, are absolutely amazing! They really fed me well 🙂 In fact they fed me so well with their delicious food, I had to take dessert home, and that never happens! R’domus offers very tasty Portuguese food for a very low price. My suggestion for you is that you skip the little overpriced riverside tapas places and you come straight here for a proper full meal. You won’t regret it! You should most definitely order the Meal of the Day. There will always be some sort of delicious meat on the menu, and the day I visited, they had sausages, but since I don’t eat meat anymore, I went for their fried …

Purchasing Stamps, Mailing out Postcards & Document Printing in Italy & Portugal

ITALY: STAMPS & POSTCARDS In Italy, my plan was to go to the post office, purchase some stamps and mail out some postcards. Prior to my departure for Rome, I jotted down a couple of post offices in my neighbourhood, so that I could just enter the address in my phone maps, and I would be taken to the post office. As I had only a few days in the city it had to be planned out a bit, but things didn’t quiet turn out so simple. Purchasing postcards is always the easy part. I found some beautiful ones on my street Via Della Scala. There was a sign in this little shop saying that they sell stamps there, so I went inside and asked for stamps, and they didn’t actually sell them there. Next up, I went to the post office, and both in Italy and Portugal when you arrive at the post office, you have to first pick up a customer number from this machine in the front, that puts you in queue. Finding the post office …

Airport Review: Larnaca International Airport

Larnaca International Airport or LCA for short is the busiest airport in Cyprus and chances are if you are visiting this beautiful island, this is where you will most likely land. I honestly cannot remember the last time I flew out from Larnaca, since it’s been a while. The airport is not very big, and it’s really easy to get to where you need to go. The Departure area was beautifully organized and really clean. I managed to take just a couple of photos before a staff member notified me in Greek that photos are not allowed. When it comes to food this small airport offers quiet a few food options. There are 3 restaurants, 2 convenience/grab and go places, 3 different bars, 2 fast food places and 6 coffee shops. For shopping, there is a large Beauty area carrying all major cosmetics and perfumes, a souvenir shop with an extensive range of authentic Cypriot products, 2 places where you can purchase fine spirits, and an electronics store. For more details on Larnaca International Airport please …

Weekly Photo Challenge: Reward

In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Reward.” The most beautiful moments in life just happen by chance. Last Thursday I had a pleasure of experiencing one of those magical moments of pure perfection. I already posted a little teaser video on this perfect afternoon at the Ribeira. The sound of live music got my attention. Soft and smooth Brazilian Bossa Novas were dancing in the air. I picked a perfect spot, front row seats for this live show. I started people watching, as the sun warmed up my face. My Sangria order arrived and it was perfectly delicious. As time passed, and my drink slowly vanished in front of my eyes, I decided that I would extend this moment a bit longer and savour every beautiful second I possibly could. This is where my little reward comes in –  I decided to order another glass of this perfect sangria just so I can stay in this beautiful moment awhile longer. As the afternoon turned into an early evening and my bill arrived, only one sangria was on the bill. A reward indeed! …

A Different Barcelona City Tour Trip

On Friday, around 5pm Porto, Portugal local time, I received an acceptance email for my Post TBEX event Tour. I am super happy that I got my first choice and that I will be visiting Barcelona this year on this beautiful 3 day city tour for the first time! 🙂 It will most definitely be a fun trip filled with sightseeing and fun activities and I’m glad the group is small enough so it will be intimate. I am really looking forward to this, and in my mind, I still can’t believe it’s happening, but soon enough it will hit me. Bellow I’ve added my Barcelona Trip Itinerary. Cannot wait to experience this and to write about it 🙂 If anyone else is going on this Tour Trip, please let me know.
