The Grand Place, Brussels

Brussels’ Grand Place (Grote Markt) is the focal point of the city, a tirelessly uplifting masterpiece of unified architecture. Flanked by tightly packed rows of farmer guildhouses, bristling with symbolic sculpture and gilding, for many centuries this was the proud economic and administrative heart of the city. It was the setting for markets and fairs, pageants and jousts, for the proclamation of decrees, and public executions. Even without its old political and economic prestige and the bustle of through-traffic, it still throbs with animation. During a typical December night, you will feel like you are in a fairy tale here. I’m sharing with you a video I posted on my Facebook Page. Please watch the video in HD. Belgian Chocolates: Leonidas

When my brother asked me what I wanted from Belgium, I said Belgian Chocolates! And so I got exactly what I wanted. A tall plastic clear bag filled with 20 Belgian Chocolate Pralines by Leonidas. Looks can be quiet deceiving when it comes to this particular chocolate praline. At first glance they look as if they are solid hard, but one bite will prove otherwise. The first thing you taste is the smooth, silky, creamy rich, delicious filling which melts in your mouth. The quality of these chocolates is just superb. One of my first thoughts was How do people go back to standard grocery store chocolates after tasting these? My plan was to eat 1 chocolate a day, so they would last me 20 days, but of course I couldn’t just have 1. They lasted for only 3 days! If you are visiting Brussels, put Leonidas Chocolate Pralines on your list, for yourself & as a gift. Trust me, this are to die for! Belgian chocolate enjoys an enviable international reputation, thanks in particular to the …

Travel Books

I love Travel Books, who doesn’t? When I lived in America, I used to buy the Frommer’s books for my journeys. When I moved to Europe, I switched to Lonely Planet which I prefer now. My brother bought this Travel Book today, for his trip to Belgium & Germany. He is going to Brussels, Bruges, Cologne & Ghent. If you are going to 3 or more cities, something like this is definitely more convenient & budget friendly. There is a map for each city inside and it’s made of good quality material, not the crappy paper kind. There are also 7 top 10 suggestions on the map for each location and more. The book was €14.99 but in UK it should be £7.99 which is actually an awesome price.
