A Beach Day in Matosinhos, Portugal

I’m adding a video from my beach day in Matosinhos bellow as well as more photos from the day. The name of the Castle by the sea in the photo is Castelo do Queijo which translates to Cheese Castle 🙂 It got the name from the giant rock the castle was built on that resembled a giant piece of cheese. It is also known as Forte de São Francisco Xavier. It was designed by Miguel l’Ecole and completed in 1661. Due to the weather conditions, there weren’t many people at the beach in this particular area at the time. A Spanish couple was right behind me, and the gentleman asked me to take his photo at the beach by these interesting rocks, while his wife waited up for him on the road with an umbrella. As I approached the Castle, it got a little busier. There were some tourists there, a guided tour, a young group of people at the beach, as well as a few couples exploring the rocks and the beach area bellow. The weather conditions weren’t ideal for the …

Braga’s Beautiful Churches: Photos and a short Video

What makes Braga so enchanting are the city’s beautiful majestic churches. Braga is a small city but surprisingly it holds a large number of churches in its quaint little downtown area. Each one is unique in its own right, and their architecture is just incredible! In this post, I’m highlighting two of Braga’s beautiful churches. The first one is Igreja de Santa Cruz which was built in the 17th century and the second church is Igreja de São Marcos or Igreja do Hospital which was built in the 18th century. Both churches have Baroque architecture and they are right next to each other. Please watch the video in HD for best viewing 🙂 Igreja de Santa Cruz Igreja de São Marcos – Igreja do Hospital

A Beach Day in Matosinhos

During the beginning of my Porto trip, there were about 4 days of constant light misty rain, but on one of the days I decided to head to the beach anyway. To get to Matosinhos, you can use the metro light rail and your stop will be Matosinhos Sul. From the metro stop, it’s an easy short walk to the beach. My first stop was Praia do Titan Café where I stopped for a delicious Irish Coffee. This was a big beach day for me as I walked along the entire coast and took many photos that day. I will be uploading more photos soon 🙂

Beautiful Braga Photo Post

Braga is a beautiful little city and it’s Portugal’s third largest city after Lisbon and Porto. You can get to Braga from Porto’s Sao Bento train station. The journey is about an hour and 20 minutes. If you are visiting Porto, and you have a week in the city, then I definitely recommend a day trip to Braga. Just like Porto in Photos, I will do Beautiful Braga photo posts with 10 photos on Braga as well. Hope you enjoy these 🙂 I travelled to Braga without a map as well and you can do the same. Once you get out of the train station, just walk straight up a few streets and turn right and the road will lead you to the city center. Also look out for street signs that display city attractions. There are large city maps in areas as well. You will have Wi-Fi at the city square area. Whatever you do, do not get on a bus. This is a city that should be explored completely by foot.

Porto in Photos

I found Porto extremely charming and beautiful, and I took tons of photos of the city. I decided to do little Porto in Photos segments to show the city to you. I will usually do a photo post consisting of about 10 or 15 photos with a short description on the photos. I travelled to Porto without a city guide, and if you read a little on the city, you won’t need one either. I didn’t even take a map with me. You will get a free map at the airport which is pretty nice. My Airbnb host had 2 more maps for me at the apt as well. Porto is a great city to explore on foot, so for your stay I suggest something in the city center, that way you are close to all the sights. If you have any questions for me, please leave them in the Comments section bellow and I will answer them for you 🙂 The name of this road is Av. Dom Alfonso Henriques. Igreja de Santo António dos …
