Second Day in Rome: Spanish Steps & Piazza di Spagna

After the Trevi Fountain we headed for the Spanish Steps which are located at the center of Piazza di Spagna. The beautiful church, Trinità dei Monti, rising above the famous steps was also under construction, but unlike the Trevi Fountain, this doesn’t make such a huge difference when visiting. This area is absolutely beautiful, and if you came to Rome for some serious retail therapy then this is the right place for you. You can reach the Spanish Steps with the metro by using the “orange line” which will have you arrive right inside the Piazza di Spagna. I also suggest climbing the steps to the very top, as the view from above is very rewarding. If you love high fashion and if you love Valentino, then this store that’s about to open is most definitely the one to visit. It’s absolutely huge! This is the most …

Second Day in Rome: Trevi Fountain

If you have missed my previous 3 posts on the Second Day in Rome, you can read them here in this order: Second Day in Rome: A lot of Walking & Sightseeing Second Day in Rome: Piazza Navona Second Day in Rome: From Piazza Navona to Trevi Fountain The Trevi Fountain is one of the most famous fountains in the world and also one of the most romantic ones too. Currently the Trevi is going under a €2.2 million restoration which is funded by the Fendi fashion house and should be completed by Autumn 2015. I think a lot of people think of Paris first when they think of Valentine’s Day and where they would like to spend it with a loved one. I haven’t been to Paris yet, so I can’t possibly comment, but I will say that Rome would most definitely be my choice for romance. You also don’t have to have a significant other to experience a romantic city. If you love to travel, you will most likely fall in love with beautiful …

Second Day in Rome: From Piazza Navona to Trevi Fountain

The walk from Piazza Navona to Trevi Fountain is pretty much a straight line, but the Pantheon is in between them so naturally that was going to be a little quick pit stop. There are many cute souvenir shops on this walk so if you plan to buy gifts for friends you can definitely do it here. And a little tip, if you plan to buy the little Colosseum statue as a gift, don’t spend €2 because further down you will see them for €1. We stopped by a few shops to buy gifts for friends and I bought a little stovetop espresso maker for myself. I just bought the classic metallic one for €9 but you can find all sorts of cool and funky ones in all colors that have different symbols on them. That’s also a perfect gift for an espresso lover. Right after Pantheon there are these cute little streets filled with amazing little shops so this I say is a must on your list. Here you can buy great leather goods and all sorts of things. …

Second Day in Rome: Piazza Navona

Side Note: I am going to break these posts in 3 parts for the 3 tourist attractions on our itinerary from the Second day in Rome as I have quiet a few photos to post. First up is Piazza Navona and as soon as I saw it, I said “Wow” out loud, because it’s truly so beautiful and breathtaking. There is a lot of wide open space and the architecture surrounding the piazza itself is very pretty. My photos most likely don’t do this place justice as it’s an entire different experience when you are there in person viewing everything at once the way it surrounds you from every angle.
