For easier navigation, I created separate pages above for countries I’ve visited this year so far. I am still in the process of creating many posts for Spain and some on Italy and Portugal too. Braga’s Beautiful Churches: Photos and a short Video

What makes Braga so enchanting are the city’s beautiful majestic churches. Braga is a small city but surprisingly it holds a large number of churches in its quaint little downtown area. Each one is unique in its own right, and their architecture is just incredible! In this post, I’m highlighting two of Braga’s beautiful churches. The first one is Igreja de Santa Cruz which was built in the 17th century and the second church is Igreja de São Marcos or Igreja do Hospital which was built in the 18th century. Both churches have Baroque architecture and they are right next to each other. Beautiful Braga Photo Post

Braga is a beautiful little city and it’s Portugal’s third largest city after Lisbon and Porto. You can get to Braga from Porto’s Sao Bento train station. The journey is about an hour and 20 minutes. If you are visiting Porto, and you have a week in the city, then I definitely recommend a day trip to Braga. Just like Porto in Photos, I will do Beautiful Braga photo posts with 10 photos on Braga as well. Hope you enjoy these 🙂 I travelled to Braga without a map as well and you can do the same. Once you get out of the train station, just walk straight up a few streets and turn right and the road will lead you to the city center. Also look out for street signs that display city attractions. There are large city maps in areas as well. You will have Wi-Fi at the city square area. Whatever you do, do not get on a bus. This is a city that should be explored completely by foot.

Travel Journal: Café Duplo

On some days when I ran out of coffee at the apt, I would order Café Duplo while I was out exploring. It costs about €1.20 and it’s basically made of 2 espresso shots. I have mine with some sugar to balance out the strong flavour of espresso. Because I’m usually on the go, I ask if the coffee place has a to go cup first, so that’s my advice for you before ordering. I found such a place on my second attempt during my daytrip in Braga. It was about 4pm and I hadn’t had any coffee yet, and I desperately needed a little pick me up. At the first coffee shop, the lady told me in Portuguese that they didn’t have to go paper cups, just regular coffee cups for dining in. Then I walked a little further and just around the corner there was a pretty fancy looking coffee shop, that looked quiet expensive. I went inside and a couple of nice friendly lady baristas helped me out with the coffee to go dilemma. Surprisingly …

An incredible day in Braga

Good evening from Porto! I have just returned from my Braga daytrip a couple of hours ago. I had the most fantastic day exploring this beautiful scenic city. Braga is the third largest city of Portugal, and this beauty should most definitely be on your Portugal bucket list. Braga is absolutely stunning, beautiful and incredible! Every direction you turn in, this city will reward you with a pretty church, a castle or a monument. More posts on Braga coming soon with some beautiful photography from today’s daytrip. The weather was great here in north Portugal today! We had a full day of bright sunshine, velvety blue sky and a generous 18C degree day. It was a perfect day for sightseeing and photos and I believe I did a great job of making a use of it. I am posting a little short video for you guys of one of the areas in Braga.
