A Little Bit of Photography: B&W London

London was home for me from October 1st 2012 – June 14th 2014, so all London related photos besides my 10 Hour London Layover are taken during this period in time. Below are photos from one of my favorite London tube stations & that’s the Liverpool Street Underground Station. This place is huge! You get a feeling like you are at an airport. There are tons of trains you can jump on from here and travel within different UK destinations. If you are arriving in London via Stansted Airport you can take a train or coach directly to the Liverpool Street Station. Liverpool street station is located on the Central Line (Red Line) which will also take you to the following major points of interest: Oxford Circus Bond Street Marble Arch Notting Hill Gate This station also has tons of shops and restaurants which is pretty awesome, as well as fresh fruit and flower stands. There are also some cool chocolate and coffee shops around too. My favorite coffee shop is the Caffe Nero right outside the station. Liverpool Street …

Travel Tips Issue No. 1

BEFORE YOU GO Book your flight far enough ahead of time for the best price deal Usually this means booking your ticket 7 weeks to 4 months ahead of time. Also keep an eye on special deals. Try to visit airline websites from time to time to check for offers. Another thing you can do is sign up for price alerts with your email, so that way when the price drops, you will be notified. Open Airline Websites in Private Browsing Mode When looking for deals online on Airline Websites directly, make sure you are doing it in Private Browsing mode. This will ensure that you get the best deal. Otherwise, every time you open the website, you will see an increased price, and the minimum increase is usually by €10, which might be £10/$10 for you. Purchase 2 or more Tickets This is probably the best way to save a lot of money. You can usually save €100 – €200 or much more just by doing your own research and booking your own separate …

São Bento: The Most Beautiful Train Station in the World

While researching articles on Porto online, I came across the Sao Bento Railway Station quiet a few times. This train station is by far the most beautiful train station I have ever visited. It’s not a surprise that Sao Bento is always included in the World’s Most Beautiful Train Station lists. Everything about this place is incredible, and I have to say that it most definitely should be on your list when visiting Porto. It will surprise you, trust me! Even before you step inside this train station, the surrounding beauty on the main street is absolutely gorgeous. You have the beautiful Igreja de Santo António dos Congregados church to your right, amazing city architecture straight ahead of you and the majestic Se Cathedral of Porto to your left. But this is how Porto is, there is beauty in every direction. The beauty of this railway station carries out beyond the stunning azulejos tiles, which by the way the entire city is beautifully embellished with. Once you stroll through the large entry doors toward the trains, you will see glimpses of the …

Mini Porto Photo Post from today

…Another rainy day in Porto. The good news is that this is the last day of rain and it’s all sunshine from here on out. Today I walked around this cute little area not too far away from my apartment, took some photos there. Then I used little backstreets to slowly descent down to the Ribeira, Porto’s famous Riverfront. I decided to cross the Dom Luís bridge, from the lower pedestrian level this time, and walked along Vila Nova de Gaia riverfront (the city across the Douro river). I took some photos of Ribeira from across the river. The weather and all the walking from yesterday got me a bit sleepy, so after about 3 hours of walking I decided to call it a day. Since I have already topped up my Andante card, I took the bus back home. All the walking got me petty hungry so I went back to BB Gourmet which is directly across my apt building and I picked up their Octopus Rice dish to heat up at home and a rich Flourless Chocolate dessert. This is also what …

Weekly Photo Challenge: Rule of Thirds

Location: Praia de Matosinhos, Matosinhos, Portugal To participate in this week’s photo challenge head over here Today was another rainy day in Porto. It’s no secret that I love sunshine, but when there’s no sun around, I go for the next best thing. Water is probably my second favourite thing after the sun. Originally I planned to save the beaches for a sunny day, but today I wanted a different experience, so I went over to the coast to visit the Atlantic Ocean. It most definitely has been a while. Last time I saw it was back in 2007 when I visited New York City during Spring Break. The following Spring Break, I was in Florida but I was on the other side, the Gulf of Mexico side, and while living in London, I visited Brighton but that’s the English Channel, so it most definitely has been a while since I’ve seen the Atlantic. I took Porto’s metro light rail all the way to Matosinhos. I got off at Matosinhos Sul and headed south to Praia de Matosinhos. …

14 Day Caribbean Honeymoon Cruise

My beautiful friend Rebecca recently went on a 2 week Caribbean Honeymoon Cruise with her hubby. The itinerary included 10 islands in 2 weeks. How cool is that? Together, we are sharing with you their amazing itinerary & some beautiful photos from their daily activities on the islands. DAY 1: St. Thomas A 20 minute bus tour took us to our destination. We have a brief introduction by our guides as to what the day would consist of. After kayaking through the mangroves for about 30 minutes, we stopped for a break and learned a little bit about the mangroves and the history of the area. We then travelled for 5 minutes to our next destination, where we raced hermit crabs followed by a short hike to see a tide pool and a blowhole, where the water crashed into these huge rocks. During snorkelling, we saw many beautiful colourful fish and a stingray which was hiding on the seabed. Our guides of the day were engaging and informative.
